Confined Space Training

New Reg. Sept 2006

Who needs it? The confined space requirements come into effect on September 30, 2006 and will be enforceable as of this date. Ontario Regulation 632/05 applies to almost all workplaces covered by the OHSA but not covered by the mining, industrial, construction or health care regulations (with the main exceptions being farming operations and diving operations). The MOL generally refers to these types of workplaces as “extended workplaces”, meaning that although the OHSA applies to them, there is no specific sector regulation that applies. Some examples of workers in extended workplaces are provincially regulated truck drivers when on the road, sewer service workers and teachers in educational facilities. To learn more click here

Fit Testing

Safety First Training and Support Service provide both qualitative and quantitative fit test methods to comply with CSA Z94.4-02. SFT is able to help you assess your respiratory needs and provide you with the training you need to protect the health and safety of your employees.

An employer shall ensure fit testing is done on a respirator prior to use. The definition of a respirator could be a half mask, full face mask or an N-95 mask. Testing should also be completed at a minimum of every two years or if a different size, model or type of respirator is needed. To learn more click here
